You are invited to A Real Life Celebration. You are part of God doing amazing things throughout the past 26 years.

Let’s give thanks for how
God has been at work.

Twenty-six years ago, Brian and Robin Langford took a step of faith to move to East Lansing, MI and lead Cru at Michigan State University. Alongside fellow leader Mary Lawrenz, multiple great staff teams, and many amazing student leaders, Cru at MSU has had the great privilege to witness the Gospel work to impact lives for Christ.

This semester will be Brian Langford’s last with the MSU team before he transitions to a new role with Cru. The last Real Life with Brian as the movement’s Team Leader is a reason to celebrate 26 years of faithful leadership and ministry at Michigan State with Brian, Robin, and Mary. It also provides a fitting opportunity to give thanks for the many students, staff, and alumni God has relationally connected through the good works of Jesus Christ.

A Real Life Celebration will happen on Friday, April 24th at 8pm. This will still be Real Life with our current students, emcees, and worship team. It will also be a truly special time as we’ll fill the room with alumni and former staff that span all the different generations of the past twenty-six years. We’ll come together as partners in the mission to hear from Brian, worship God, and have some fun celebrating together.

Event Details

First, note that this will happen on a Friday. To answer the frequently asked question ‘Is Real Life still on Thursdays?’—yes, it is. This Real Life will happen on Friday to help more alumni join us. (Our apologies to those that the switch made it more difficult for)

Also, we fully intended on having Real Life on MSU’s campus because the campus has always been at the heart of our vision as Cru. We’re grateful for the great response so far from many alumni joining us for the night, but it also means we’ve outgrown the rooms available to us on campus for the night of April 24th. Thankfully, New Hope Church has offered us their space for the night. While we will miss not being on campus, New Hope Church will provide a warm and welcoming space for us to enjoy Real Life together and connect for meaningful conversations.

Prior to Real Life, we will host a Welcome Reception at New Hope Church beginning at 6:45. Especially for those for whom it's easier to come earlier, this will be an open time to say hi to Brian, current MSU staff, and fellow alumni. There will also be time to greet people afterwards. We will need to ensure the building is clean and everyone leaves by 11pm.

Opportunity to Send Encouragement

It’s been great to have so many alumni ask how they can send encouragement and personally thank Brian as he closes out his time at MSU. We have put together an opportunity for alumni to do so for Brian, as well as for Robin and Mary. Since this will be a one-time event, we want to take the opportunity to thank them all.
(FAQ Answer - Mary will continue as a team leader, and Robin continues to process her next steps.)

Below are multiple opportunities to send a message to any or all of Brian, Robin, and Mary.

Video Messages
We’ve created a VidDay Invite to send a video message for each of Brian, Robin, and Mary. This will allow you to record a short video message (anywhere from around 30 seconds to a couple of minutes) and send it in. VidDay will compile and edit the messages into a video for each of them. You can click their link below to send a message.
